Above all, first do talk to your broker and explain the situation. Only if this fails would I escalate the matter.
In the unlikely event that the merger were to go through, then imagine going into a USA or Canadian small claims or bigger court with a timeline showing it can NOT be done. Remember that the clock starts when the MIC arrived. It is a NO brainier; you win for your loss given the courts settled value with 10K tacked on for ‘emotional distress’. Be sure to name your broker and Century Mining in the complaint. For the broker, it costs LOTS just to get the lawyers to the courthouse and for Century it is even more. Thus, they may want to settle this matter quickly.
Timeline:
- Receive MIC.
- Read 200+ pages (3 day – with much stress)
- Call Broker to request stocks converted from street to stockholder. Wait 1 – 2 weeks for action to happen.
- Send Dissent Notice within 1 day of receiving MIC.
Conclusion:
8 to 13 business days are needed for the above average stockholder to do a successful Notice of Dissent.
P.S.
Bring the MIC and shipping envelope to court if possible.
P.S.P.S.
Remember the Animal House motto, "Don't get mad. Get even."
